Welcome & Greeting One Another                          Pastor Jane Bunnell

Call to Worship
Gather to give thanks with your whole heart.
Rejoice in God’s love and faithfulness.
We bow down, for this is God’s holy temple.
We pour out our thanks in song and praise.
God answers us when we call.
Our Creator increases our strength of soul.
Great is the glory of our God.
We rejoice in God’s steadfast love.
Wait for God, and hope in God’s Word.
Open your hearts to the holy presence in our midst.
Our ears are attentive to the voice of God.
We open our lives to God’s direction.
Let us worship God!

*Hymn: “This Is My Father’s World”                                                (G)# 21
Call to Confession
God does not forsake us, but we often choose other rulers. We abdicate responsibility for our own lives, in relation
to our Creator, turning instead to entertainers, politicians, and financial wizards as our hope. In worship, we are
recalled to our primary accountability to God.

Prayer of Confession
We confess, O God, that we often act as if we know better than you what is right for us. We make decisions
without considering your larger purposes. Our own convenience and desires are more important to us than your
commands. We go our own way and then blame others for our mistakes. Our inner confusion creates division and
brokenness. We hide from you rather than admitting our needs. O God, we want to face our sin and find
forgiveness. Help us! Amen.

Silent Confession
Assurance of Pardon
The One who raised Jesus from the dead offers us new life today. Our sins are forgiven. Our lives are cleansed.
Our inner nature is being renewed. God does not forsake us. We are the work of God’s hands, the object of
steadfast love. Meet the world with the assurance that you are loved, valued, and empowered as the ambassador of
God’s eternal realm.  In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Thanks be to God!

THE WORD

Scripture: Daniel 9:4-6; John 14:1-7; Matthew 6:25-34
Sermon: “We Trust in God the Father”                    Pastor Jane Bunnell

*Hymn: “Great Is My Faithfulness”                                          (G) # 72

* Affirmation of Faith: Brief Statement of Faith (Lines 1-6, 52-80
In life and in death we belong to God.
Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,
and in the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune  God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we
worship and serve.

We trust in God the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life. The Spirit justifies us by grace through
faith, sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor, and binds us together with all believers in the
one body of Christ, the Church.

The same Spirit to hear the voices of people long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace.
In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful
lives, even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth, praying, “Come, Lord Jesus!”

With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of
God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.    Amen.

Joy and Concerns
Prayer of the people & The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever.      Amen.

Covenant Gathering – The registration for this year’s Covenant Gathering is now in progress. The theme this year is
Sharing the Story and will be held from July 1st – 6th, 2012, at the Michindoh Retreat Center, Hillsdale, MI. There are
several ways you can find more information out about this wonderful Christian gathering. You can speak to any of our
members who have attended in previous years or by going on the internet at www.covenantgathering.com, or by reading a
brochure that you can find in the community room. It is a very inspirational week of classes, crafts, fun, food, fellowship
and worship. If you have not attended in the past please check it out for a wonderful week of Christian nourishment.

VBS – The VBS (Vacation Bible School) committee is working hard at getting everything ready for another fun,
educational week for our children. The VBS theme this year will be “Beach Party – Surfin’ Through the Scriptures”. VBS
will be held the week of August 6 through 10th. The week will be concluded with the worship service on Sunday, August
9th. At this time they are lining up their instructors. If you would be interested in helping please contact Colett Pfortmiller
or Dani Miller. More information will follow in the upcoming weeks.

E-Waste pickup – The E-Waste pickup will be held from 12:30-2:30 p.m. the second Saturday of each month at the
Sandwich Fairgrounds.
There will be no electronic pickup in September because the Sandwich Fair is scheduled. This
program is being held in cooperation with DeKalb County. Persons are to be aware that long lines don’t necessarily mean it
takes a long time at the site because of the organization and assistance that’s available. There are several cities and sites in
DeKalb County that have regular E-Waste pickup, some on a monthly schedule and others more infrequently.

Garage Sale – Did you start your spring cleaning? Do you have stuff that you don't need or want anymore? Thinking about
donating them? We would love to take it off your hands. Somonauk United Presbyterian Church is having a
Garage Sale
on
Saturday, June 23. To make arrangements for drop off or pick up please call Lark Eggert at 815-312-2261.

Beach Party – Come and join other church families for a beach party on Wednesday, June 20th from 12-4 p.m. It will be
held at the Lake Holiday main beach. Look forward to seeing everyone for some fun and sun!
