                                                           2 Corinthians 4:1-6
                                                                                 (New International Version)

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have
renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On
the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in
the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of
this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the
glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ is Lord,
and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”
made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face
    of Christ.

Sermon: “We Have Seen His Glory”
         Pastor Jane Bunnell

*Hymn: “Open My Eyes that I May See”                         (G)#480

*Affirmation of Faith: Brief Statement of Faith

In life and in death we belong to God.
Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and in the communion of the Holy Spirit,
we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.

We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.
In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image, male and female,
of every race and people, to live as one community.
But we rebel against God; we hide from our Creator.
Ignoring God’s commandments, We violate the image of God in others and ourselves, accept lies as truth,
Exploit neighbor and nature, and threaten death to the planet entrusted to our care.
    We deserve God’s condemnation.

Yet God acts with justice and mercy to redeem creation.
In everlasting love, the God of Abraham and Sarah chose a covenant people to bless all families of the earth.
Hearing their cry, God delivered the children of Israel from the house of bondage.
Loving us still, God makes us heirs with Christ of the covenant.
Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child, like a father who runs to welcome the prodigal home,
    God is faithful still.

With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love
of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Call to Worship                                                           Mick Cronin

Hallelujah! It’s a good thing to sing praise to our God; Praise is beautiful, praise is fitting.
Our Lord is great, with limitless strength; we’ll never comprehend what he knows and does.
Sing to GOD a thanksgiving hymn, play music on your instruments to God.
Those who fear GOD get GOD’s attention; they can depend on his strength.
Jerusalem, worship GOD!
Zion, praise your God!

Prayer of the Day
Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that as the Scriptures are read and your Word is
proclaimed, we may hear believe, and follow what you say to us today.  Amen.
*Hymn: “Holy Ground”                                                             (G)#654

 Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we
have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart and
mind and strength, we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves. In your mercy, forgive what we
are, and direct what we shall be, that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways to the
    glory of your holy name.
Silent Confession
Assurance of Pardon
Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; the new life has begun. Know that you are
forgiven and be at peace. Amen.
Through Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Thanks be to God!
THE WORD
Joy and Concerns
Morning Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we
forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the
kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever.      Amen.
